Blog Advent Tour, All Aboard!

I am honored to be apart of Blog Advent Tour 2008. This party is hosted by Marg at Reading Adventures and Kailana from The Written World. I am new to this blogging thing. I have been blogging since October. I have been following Marg since my beginning and she was my first visitor. Now on to the party!!

Our holidays really start the night of Thanksgiving. Once we put the kids to bed, we pop in "A Christmas Story". This is the first time we watch it every year. We just love this movie. Through out the whole year, we would quote the movie's signature line: "You'll shoot your eye out!" Every year, my husband will repeat, that he too, had a Red Ryder Bibbie Gun.

Then, on Christmas Eve, TBS, our cable station, will air "A Christmas Story" for 24 hours straight. From 8 at night til 8 the next night. As soon as we get home from Christmas Eve dinner at one of the siblings, we turn the TV on to that station. We usually watch 2 halves of the movie as we watch the kids play with their gifts and as we get them ready for bed. Then after they go to bed, we watch the movie from the beginning.

Once, I tried telling my husband what happened to the actor who played Flick (porn star), and he actually got mad at me and said not to ruin the movie for him.

Thank you for stopping by while on the Tour. How many of you have watched a "A Christmas Story"?

I wish you all a happy holidays and a wonderful 2009!

Take care!

I just watched that movie last night. It's never really been one of my favorite movies, but as I was watching it last night, I was wondering why. That movie is hilarious. Maybe I just never really gave it a chance. So, it was on twice last night, but I only watched it once. Good Movie.

So, how does this Blog Advent Tour work?

You know, I think it is fair to say that I have never ever seen this movie!

Thanks so much for participating in our tour!

Marcia, each day we visit two or three blogs where people talk about their favourite Christmas traditions, songs, food, memories...whatever they like.

For a full list of people participating in the tour check out the list on my blog.

I have to admit that, I get four channels at home. Everyone says "How can you say you have never seen this movie?!? It is always on tv!!!" And I have to explain that NBC, CBS, FOX, nor PBS play it, so thus, it is never on. But you know, people are strange. I feel like I have seen it, what with everyone quoting it all the time. :D

Lovely post, by the way! Please do read my advent blog on the 19th! I hope it will be good.

Christmas is not Christmas without several films or TV shows that we absolutely must watch, and 'A Christmas Story' is one of them. In fact, my Christmas cards this year feature scenes from the movie. My husband received a wall clock last year that has the 'It's a major award!' leg on it.

Wonderful post!

I have never seen the movie, I've seen a little part of it, but never got my attention. It is getting rave reviews, so maybe I will try to make myself this year...I'll let you know what i think.

Ok, I have to be honest I am one of those people who doesn't get "A Christmas Story," I know that it is suppose to be funny. I watch with my family every year who love it and I just don't get it. In fact I get annoyed that it is on for 24 straight hours. However, this year I think I will appreciate more that there are some people who love the movie. I do like the lamp that part of the movie I get.

I have heard much about this movie but it isn't a part of the Danish xmas-movie traditions. I think I will see if I can get it on dvd and watch it :o) Great post.

I don't think I've ever seen "A Christmas Story". My excuse, it's probably an American thing. Maybe I'll check it out this year.

My favorite used to be "White Christmas" - my sister and I would try to watch it every year. Of course that is American too! I don't think my kids would go for "A Christmas Story". I think my favorites are the Santa Claus movies, the ones where the guy becomes Santa because Santa falls off his roof. I guess they appeal to my sense of humor.

Debbie said...

We watch it every year too. I like the 'Triple dog dare" line the best. :~)
darn that Flick!

I've seen A Christmas Story. And like everyone have said it's on all the times! I can't understand how lot of people never seen it *laughing*...

I watch a lot of favorite classic Christmas movies, and have had newer favorite movies too. I love to watch Christmas movies. A few of my favorite would be "Miracle on 34 Street", "The Santa Clause" (with Tim Allen), "Jingle All the Way", "A Christmas Carol"...etc.

I enjoy learning what your tradition movie are during the holidays. It's always fun to learn your blogger :) Happy Holidays!

I'm catching up on the blog tour, so I'm sorry I'm late with this comment. I LOVE A Christmas Story. I laugh and laugh and cry and laugh some more. It's one of the best movies about being a child and waiting for christmas and having a crazy family - every year I laugh at something different in it! Thank you for writing about it, and I see from the comments, bringing it to so many more people to watch! It's becoming a tradition in my house to watch it at Christmas now. thank you, lovely post, Vickie!
