Take Me Back Tuesday: My Dad

It is time for Take Me Back Tuesday, brought to us by A Giveaway Addicted Mommy.

This is a picture of my Dad. This past Sunday, June 28, would have been his 72nd birthday. His name was Charles Michael, but he hated Charles so he only went by Michael. He was in the Marines at the time of the Korean War, but was not sent over to Korea. He was very proud of the Marines.

During my parent's honeymoon they drove to Virginia on the way they pick up a hitchhiker. The only reason why they pick him up was because he was a Marine. My Mom was slightly against it, but my Dad said they had to help the guy out. Very Proud.

I miss him.

Recipe Swap Monday: Cheesy Green Onion Corn Saute'

Photobucket

It is time for Anissa's Recipe Swap Monday!

Cheesy Green Onion Corn Saute'

1 TBSP olive oil
1 (16-oz.) pkg. frozen corn, thawed and drained
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1/2 cup cheddar cheese

Heat oil in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add corn and green onions and cook and stir for 3 minutes or until heated through. Sprinkle cheese and cover for 20 seconds.

Easy Peasy!! I use this as a side dish. Sometimes I just use canned corn and drain the juice. Adds a twist to plain ol' corn:)

Father's Day Card and Stuff

Wow, I haven't been blogging much this past week. I remember when I first started I was on all the time!! What happened? I know...Summer:)

This is the card I made for Jason's Dad for Father's Day. I thought it was kind of plain. What I was planning just didn't come to life. Jason and his Dad thought it was good. Okay, I will take it:)

Well this past Thursday, Jason's parents took Lindsey and Michaela up to their cottage for about three weeks. Adela is still with me. It will be like a vacation!!

Later that day we had a train thunderstorm come through. One came right after the other. The first one was bad. We had hurricane force winds!! I swear the windows were moving!! We didn't lose power but others in the city did. Lucky, until Friday afternoon.

Adela and I went to visit a friend for half the day and when I got back I realized we had lost power!! I guess they had to turn our neighborhood off so they could work on the rest of the city. Adela was a little mad. She couldn't watch TV!! As soon as it came back on, right away she was telling me to put on "Dragon Tales". Geez, no patience:)

Messing Around With the Computer

For the past week I have been messing around with the photo program that we have on our computer. I am trying to figure how to print words on the pictures and if I can add color to black and white pictures. I don't think I can. Our program is really generic.

I took this during our Wisconsin trip. It is the vintage look. It was also very chilly that day. It was so windy and cold that my ears hurt!
Jason took this of the kids and me walking on the pier in Wisconsin. It is the soft glow look. Not sure if I like it. Any way...so you see the pidgeon poop on the ground. It was everywhere! I was so surprised we never got hit in the head by a poop bomb:)

This I took of Adela right before she blew out her birthday candles. She was so happy. I cropped it and use the "make the picture look better setting". I think that setting just lightens up the picture a bit. Then I used the sepia toned look. This is my favorite setting. The only thing was it makes it look like her teeth are bad.

There is even a setting that makes you look thinner! I will be using that feature when I am scrapping any photos of me:)

I'm It!

Anissa over at Our Chaotic Life has photo tagged me. You need to go to your first photo file and choose the 10th photo. Here is mine:

This picture was taken summer of 2007. Adela was about a year old and Lindsey was 6 1/2. I probably took another picture after this one because it looks like Adela is falling backwards:)

Now I am to tag 5 people:

Let's see what pops up gals!

Scrapbook Sunday and Wisconsin Trip

Hi y'all! What did I miss? I got back yesterday afternoon from Wisconsin. It was a nice trip. The only thing was that everyday was chilly. Oh well...you can't win them all:) Also, my Husband's work labtop wouldn't let me blog, twitter, facebook or check my email!! His work has all the computers programmed not to allow people to check personel accounts! Geez!!

Today is Scrapbook Sunday which is brought to you by Holly of Girls At Heart and Noelle of Lil' Bits and Pieces Of Me.

It is Lindsey when she was about 10 months old. The pictures are a little dark, but each one was a memory that I cherish. The top one was Lindsey on her first drive toy. The bottom is Lindsey and Sidney looking out the window. Everynow and then they would look at each other as if they were saying, "What do you see?"

Now for some Wisconsin pics:

Hey Michaela, we passed through your neck of the woods to get to Wisconsin:)

We didn't take Adela. She is still a little rambunctious, so she stayed with Grandma. Next year we will take her. Next year Jason's June convention will be in Traverse City, Michigan. A tad more closer. Jason and I felt bad she was not there with us, especially since the first day we left was her birthday:(

Here is the view from our room. That is Lake Michigan.

Recipe Swap Monday: Sticky Chicky and Just Blah Stuff

Photobucket
Hey it is Monday and it is Recipe Swap Monday with Anissa of Our Chaotic Life.

Sticky Chicky

I had made this last week for the first time and my Husband and Lindsey liked it. The other two kids are so picky. They don't eat a lot of stuff I cook:( Adela is my Sodium Nitrite baby and Michaela is my I will eat when I want to eat baby. And when she does eat, it is never stuff I make.

So here it is:
16 boneless, skinless chicken thights (about three pounds)
Sauce:
1/2 cup your favorite barbecue sauce
1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/4 cup liquid honey or maple syrup
1 TBSP chili powder
1 TBSP dijon mustard
1 TBSP grated gingerroot
2 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp ground cumin
1 TBSP cornstarch

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Spray a 9X13 inch baking pan with cooking spray. Arrange chicken thighs in pan in a single layer.

Whisk together all sauce ingredients in a medium bowl. Pour evenly over chicken, turn pieces to coat both sides with sauce. Bake, uncovered, for about 40 minutes, or until the chicken is no longer pink in the center.

I wasn't on the computer much this past weekend. I was planning and cleaning for Adela's third birthday party. The actual day is this Wednesday. Then on Wednesday morning we are leaving to go to Wisconsin and we will be back on Saturday. I actually got excited when my Husband said he will bring his work laptop! I can blog a little bit at night during our trip!

Now I have to get blogging now, to see what everybody was up to this weekend and what I had missed:)

My Little Bed Hogger

Adela this past weekend had given me some flowers. They were flowers from Jason's chive garden. She was so happy that she gave me flowers. They are still on the table even though they give off an onion smell. This totally makes up for hogging my bed last week.
Last week she kept thinking she was seeing bugs in her room in the middle of the night. Finally I had her come in bed with us. Most of the time she was right up against my back even though it is a king sized bed.My little bed hogger:)
Of course, as I am typing this, she and her sister are fighting over a toy.
