Peppermint Candy Cookies

Melissa and Amy over at Frugal Creativity is having a virtual cookie exchange. The last time I did an exchange it was 2002!! My batch is Peppermint Candy Cookies. Now when I made mine, it didn't look like this:
I couldn't get perfect swirls. But it was still good:)

3/4 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup of vegetable oil
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of peppermint extract
2 eggs
2 cups of all-purpose flour
put aside:
about 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
about 1/4 cup of red colored sugar

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix 3/4 cup sugar, the oil, baking powder, vanilla, salt, peppermint extract and eggs in large bowl with spoon. Stir in flour.

Drop dough by teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. (I use parchment paper) Press bottom of glass onto dough to grease, then dip into 1/4 cup of granulated sugar; press on balls until 1/4 inch thick. Spoon red sugar on cookies, using very small spoon, in spiral design to look like peppermint candies. Or place red sugar in resealable plastic food storage bag; snip off tiny corner. Squeeze red sugar from bag on cookies.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.

For more cookies, go visit Frugal Creativity. They have a linky and every post they are doing until the end of November is cookies!! YUM!!

They are really cute! Although, I am sure mine would not look that good! I can't wait to start making all of my Christmas cookies!

I'd be lucky to get them to look like X's, but they sure are pretty. I'm thinking of baking before long!

Those sound great, my hubby hates peppermint though, so I prob won't make them. I really want to do a real cookie exchange.

Yum Yum I love peppermint anything! It's one of my favorite scents and I stock up on lip balm this time of year to get me through the rest of the year. Those sound yummy, my mom used to make some that looked like little candy candes.

I'm sure that mine wouldn't look like the photo, either, but I imagine that they're delicious! Thanks for sharing the recipe, and for joining the Virtual Cookie Exchange!
