My First Reading Challenge

I saw this reading challenge over at The Book Kitten. Most challenges are more challenging then I like, but this one is right up my ally. I am hoping it reignites my love of reading. To check out the challenge go visit MizB.

The rules for the challenge are very simple:

  • Set a goal for how many of your own books you'd like to read in 2009.
  • Read from your own collection between January 1st to December 31st. You can't get a book from the library. You have to own the book.

I own a huge selection of books. If I see a book I like, I would buy it. My collection is on one book shelf and in a box. Of course my Hubby keeps rearranging the basement so now I cannot find that box. It has a book in there I want to read in this challenge. Grrrr

My books to read are:

  • *The Secret Live Of The U.S. Presidents by Cormac O'Brien
  • The Romanov Prophecy by Steve Berry
  • Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austin and Seth Grahame-Smith
  • Confessions Of A Slacker Mom by Muffy Mead-Ferro
  • *Doomed Queens-Royal Women Who Met Bad Ends From Cleopatra to Princess Di by Kris Waldherr

Now you can change any of the books on the list as long as you own it. So as soon as I find the book in the box my Hubby keeps moving, I will add that to the list and take of Savannah. Of course I might actually go pass 5 books in this challenge and still read Savannah.

First I have to finish Georgiannna, The Duchess Of Devonshire by Amanda Forman. I cannot include it in the challenge because I had started reading it in October of last year. It is not a boring book. I just let blogging take my free time. I have to hurry because the movie is showing OnDemand right now.

Edit4/15/09 I changed some of the books I want to read. Once I get finished with a book, I will put an asterisk by it.

I hope you like Edgar Sawtelle. It's an interesting book. There are a LOT of plot twists!

I'm sitting here thinking...I have no idea when I would even fit this in. I like the idea though. I have several books that I buy and then I don't get around to reading or finishing!! UGH...it's frustrating!

I used to be a book addict myself. especialy since I moved to england, as after a few years I noticed that my writing in hebrew isnt as good as it used to be. so it was helping me maintaine my lang :-)
But since I had my Princess, I dont find alot of time to read anymore..

That slacker mom one sounds cute!

I get A LOT of my books from the library. And the ones I do happen to buy I like to write my name in the cover and then pass it on to a friend. I have them write their name after mine and pass it along! It keeps on going! I just like knowing my books are floating around out there for others to enjoy!
