Yup, I am a Facebooker

Photobucket Yup! I have joined Facebook this week. If blogging and Twittering were not enough. I found myself on it most of last night. I am crazy!

Though, I find it is not as user friendly as say, Blogger. I am having a dickens of a time putting html on my page.

Also, Sometimes I am just confused by it. Guess it takes sometime getting used to.

Friday Book Projects: Miss Fannie's Hat

It is time for Friday Book Projects with Sandy at Just For Fun. This week, we read Miss Fannie's Hat by Jan Karon. It has a nice message at the end about sharing and giving.

So we decided to make hats. We did the classic pirate hat and decorated it.

Just in case you forgot how to make one I will give the instructions. Hey, I forgot and had to find the instructions. Take a whole sheet of newspaper and cut off 4 inches off the side of the paper. Fold the two ends til they met. Take the bottom part and fold up on both sides. Then tape the folds secure.

I let the kids decorate their hats on their own. So, of course I got a lot of drops of glitter glue on the hat. I was able to convince them to put buttons and pieces of paper.

Here is Adela's hat.

Here is Michaela's hat.

Here are Adela and Michaela modeling their hats.

My First Reading Challenge

I saw this reading challenge over at The Book Kitten. Most challenges are more challenging then I like, but this one is right up my ally. I am hoping it reignites my love of reading. To check out the challenge go visit MizB.

The rules for the challenge are very simple:

  • Set a goal for how many of your own books you'd like to read in 2009.
  • Read from your own collection between January 1st to December 31st. You can't get a book from the library. You have to own the book.

I own a huge selection of books. If I see a book I like, I would buy it. My collection is on one book shelf and in a box. Of course my Hubby keeps rearranging the basement so now I cannot find that box. It has a book in there I want to read in this challenge. Grrrr

My books to read are:

  • *The Secret Live Of The U.S. Presidents by Cormac O'Brien
  • The Romanov Prophecy by Steve Berry
  • Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austin and Seth Grahame-Smith
  • Confessions Of A Slacker Mom by Muffy Mead-Ferro
  • *Doomed Queens-Royal Women Who Met Bad Ends From Cleopatra to Princess Di by Kris Waldherr

Now you can change any of the books on the list as long as you own it. So as soon as I find the book in the box my Hubby keeps moving, I will add that to the list and take of Savannah. Of course I might actually go pass 5 books in this challenge and still read Savannah.

First I have to finish Georgiannna, The Duchess Of Devonshire by Amanda Forman. I cannot include it in the challenge because I had started reading it in October of last year. It is not a boring book. I just let blogging take my free time. I have to hurry because the movie is showing OnDemand right now.

Edit4/15/09 I changed some of the books I want to read. Once I get finished with a book, I will put an asterisk by it.

One Of My Favorite Pictures

Jeannie over at Jeannie's Happy World is having her Blogaversary giveaway all this week. Today is the first day. We are to post our favorite picture. Check her blog to see what is the prize. I have many favorites, but this one popped into my head when I started looking.

It is Adela when she was 11 months old. May of 2007. I called her name and this is the look she gave me. I love it!! It makes me laugh everytime I see it. She is my Bubba!

While I was looking for my Bubba's picture, I passed this one. This was taken at my in-laws cottage. Every morning they feed the chipmunks and the birds. This is the first thing my kids do in the morning, when we are visiting. You can see the peanut in the chipmunk's mouth.

We leave a pile for them and then we go inside to watch. Nice memories.

Michaela's Valentine's Mailbox

Sandy at Just For Fun had given me the idea to put pop bottle daisies on Michaela's Valentine's mailbox. Click here to see Sandy's instructions.

Thanks for the idea, Sandy.

Michaela could not go to her class party that day. She had gotten sick with a fever. But since we live next door to the school, her teacher and I met at the fence and she took the Valetine's Michaela was gonna give to the kids. The teacher than gave Michaela's cards that she had gotten from her class to her older sister, Lindsey to take home. This teacher and the teacher's aide is awesome. Very helpful.

Michaela is fine now. The fever turned into a runny nose. She is probably getting a cold. yeah:(

Friday Book Projects - On The Day You Were Born

It is that time for Friday Book Projects with Sandy over at Just For Fun.

Lindsey, my first born, received this book 6 days after she was born. It also happened to be Christmas. The kids and I did this last week. So the Valentine theme is a little late.

My kids love using the sharpener so this was great for all of us.

We used the cheaper crayons. We would never use Crayola brand. We pick red and pink crayons and the kids sharpened them to nubs. I put the shavings on wax paper. Then I put some glitter on it. Then I put wax paper on top of the shavings. I put dish rags on both the bottom and top of the wax paper. I then ran an iron over the dish rag for several minutes. The crayon mixture melted and I waited for it to cool. Then I cut a big heart out of it.

The picture doesn't show the glitter. I have it on my window now. When the sun hits it, it looks nice.

Blog Blah

I am so irritated with computer geeks who think it is funny to send viruses through the internet. Last week Tuesday, I was playing on Photobucket and my computer told me that I had a bad file. Well, for the next couple of days we were dealing with the computer. On Friday, I think we got rid of the problems. But the idiot left the damage. We now have popups. If I put settings to stop all popups, then I cannot blog and I cannot open any email. So I have to keep the settings for some popups.

My computer just isn't the same any more. I am also afraid to go back to photobucket, though I miss going to the site.

If you read my weight lost blog, then you know that is not going well.

I just want to slap myself. I am in a funk and things could be worse.

I have awards to posts and I will get to those wonderful things.

Flashback Friday

Today I am participating in Flashback Friday. Check out Tara's blog to see the other partipants. I am showing a picture and a video. The two are not related.
This is a picture of me and my Dad. I was so happy I found some old photos of my Dad. I just happened to find them while I was looking for a shoebox to decorate for my Daughter's Valentine mailbox.

I was maybe 4 years old. You can see those cloth hair curlers. My Mom was always stylin' our hair like Shirley Temple when we had to go anywhere special.

If you look closer, you can see a black tooth on my Dad. When he was in the Marines, he had gotten into a fight with a fellow Marine and the guy smack him with the rifle on his mouth. Well the dentist just put a cap on his tooth. Years later, while he was bitting into an apple, the cap fell off and revealed the blacken tooth. It no longer bothered him, so he never fix it. Since I could remember, that was a part of him, so it never bothered me:)

I miss him.

Now for the video, I have been thinking a lot lately when my first daughter was little how we would sit together and watch Playhouse Disney. Rolie Polie Olie was one of our favorites, next to the Wiggles. Disney no longer shows Rolie Polie Olie. I miss that show. Not my daughter though. She tells me "That's a baby show". I wish they stop growing up:(

>P>Enjoy the video.

Computer Problems

Well, I am back, for now. My computer was and still is flaking on me. I am having things happen that shouldn't happen on this computer. We are still working on it, but my Hubby said it should be safe to play on for a while.

I hate when this happens. It puts me behind on my blogging. I have lots of blogs to read. What am I gonna do when I go on vacation? Yikes! No blogging!

A Revision On The Button

Thank you everyone for your input:)

Here is a revision. I am thinking of not using the photo slips. I can't crop it. Photobucket will not let me.

Also if you gals can tell me how I can put the code on my blog so people can grap it. Still figuring that one out.

Possible Blog Button

Okay gals, I need some advise. I wanted to do a button for my blog. Photobucket is great. So I used a picture with buttons, because I love using buttons in my scrapbooking. The frame is photo slips. A scrapbooking medium as well.

What do you think? Is it okay or can I do better and have someone else do it. Really, I want to know.

About Me Tag

I was tagged last week by Annie from Junior Mints and Reeses and Flyin' Annie. I love doing these tags. They are so much fun. But I feel bad. It took me a while to get to it.

Here are the rules to the tag game:
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Mention the rules.
3. Tell 6 things about yourself.
4. Tag 6 other bloggers by linking to them.
5. Go to each person's blog and leave them a comment to let them know they've been tagged. This is kind of a fun way to get to know people.

Here are the six things about me:
  1. I graduated from Michigan State University.
  2. I wanted to be an archeologist. Then I realized I needed more schooling.
  3. Dennis Quaid is my favorite actor!
  4. I am a procrastinator and lazy.
  5. I am 2 years older than my Hubby.
  6. I used to die my hair red, but realized I did not look good in that color. I wanted Julia Robert's hair.

Now I am supposed to pass this on, but I am breaking the rules. If you want to do this, let me know so I can read it on your blog:)

Ugh, Housework

Well today is Lindsey's First Reconcilation. I have to do some serious housework. My Hubby's parents are coming to watch the other kids so we can take her to church. I need to organize my kitchen counter. Apparently, I am not organize and I am forgetting stuff. Did I mention, that this is all my fault. Yeah, thanks hon for not taking some of the blame.

I am still feeling a little dizzy at times. Which doesn't help with the cleaning. I am still trying to catch up on blogging from yesterday. I will have to play later.

I am crabby and it is only Tuesday.

p.s. I snagged the picture from Jeannie. Thanks sweetie!
