My Bubba's Shoes

These are the shoes my kids wore when they were about 2 - 3 years old. I have had these around since 2003. They bring back such wonderful memories.

I remember taking Lindsey to the parent and tot class we had enrolled in, to help her with her socialization skills. We were playing on the Little Tykes inside playground equipment. She was so happy.

I remember Michaela always wearing these shoes, when it was her turn. But as soon as the hand-me-down Dora shoes fit, she didn't want these anymore. But I was okay with that because I had one more who would be wearing them soon.

Adela, she loved them. When I said "to go get your shoes", it was always these shoes. If I had misplaced them and I pulled out another, she had a cow and was upset. I had to look for these shoes. But by the time she had got them, they were starting to look beat up.

Well as you can see, they are in bad shape. A few days ago, I decided it was time to throw them out. I didn't realize how attached I was to them, until that moment. I had to take a picture of them. I was a bit said, though not as sad as Adela. She did not want me to throw them out. She complained that the other shoes I had given her were too big and demanded her old ones. Sorry Honey!

On Sunday, Jason and Adela had started to chill on the couch and eventually fallen asleep. So sweet! It was so a "I must take a picture" moment.

Michaela's Baptism Layout I And A Little Ranting

This is the layout I did of Jessica Cowan's sketch from Sisterhood of Scrap. The picture I am using is Michaela. This was her baptism. The sketch was cool, but when I did my layout based on it, well, I don't know. It doesn't seem to work with the materials I used. I used paper that had the purple theme, First, I think the picture is to small for the sketch, she did use a bigger picture. Second the yellow paper with the flowers on it seems out of place. Oh well.

First, I had adhered a 12 x 12 purple cardstock to the page. Second I put a lighter purple cardsctock on 1/4 of the page. On top of that to the left is white cardstock called Bling, because it is kind of shiny. I had cut it with the antique scissors to give it a wavy look. Then to the right of the light purple I put a strip of printed paper with the flowers that I had cut out. Then the photo. Then next to the photo I had measured out the flowery purple paper to sit higher then the photo. The title went around the photo. It was letters made of paperboard with glitter. I bought it, did not make it. Then to the right I had glued clear rhinestones. Then on the bottom, I had cut out a strip of purple-pink from the same paper from the flowers.

I guess the layout will grow on me.

Hey, Gals, how would you feel, if someone used your driveway as their personal parking space? Me, not to happy. You see, I live right by the school and people will use it to turn around on the street. That is fine, expected. But, lately, people have actually parked their car on my driveway and GOT OUT and walk to pick up their kid from school. HELLO!!

One person was actually blocking the sidewalk, which is illegal in Michigan. If a person is hit by a car because they had to walk in the street, not only is the car sued, but so is the home owner. Also he is blocking the driveway so people could not turn around in the street. So as people were walking by my house, I am telling them "Not my car" . Well the guy comes and says he is sorry, but he was running late and his kid is 5 years old. Well, I told him it was against the law. He just looked at me, like I was a Bi***. Your know what, they do not release the kindergarteners unless their parents are their to pick them up. So, the kid would have never been outside alone.

So, the cops are going to be doing a check on my street to keep people in line. They usually do that a couple times a year anyways, to scare people for a couple of weeks.

To me, it is not just a "Hey this is my property you are parking on", but also a safety issue.

I had to rant a little bit.

You all have a good Friday night.

Lindsey's First Bath Layout, Blog Blah And A Little Problem

Lindsey's First Bath Layout. I tore all around a bubble patterned paper, which I then adhered to the page. Mounted the pictures on baby blue cardstock. I also mounted the tub and duckies diecuts on the same paper. I made the tub my title. The part I like the best is my serendipity square. This is a great way to use your scraps. First I would stick the pieces of scraps thru my xyron sticker maker machine. Then I would stick all the sticky scraps on a bigger scrap of paper. I tried to use my square punch but the work was to thick, so I measured the squares out to about 1 inch and a half. Then I mounted that on white cardstock. On the middle of each square I put a blue rhinestone. Then adhered it to the page . I tried to make even outside borders, to give it a mosiac look.

To help me with one of my resolutions, I have started to follow a scrapbooking blog. They do weekly challenges, so I am hoping this will help me do a scrapbook page a week. The blog is called Sisterhood of Scrap. Besides challenges they also just promote designers sketches. So if I don't like the challenge, I can do the sketch, which I did at my evening scrap on Friday. I will post that one tomorrow.

I am pooped. I know why...it is staying up to about 2 in the morning catching up on blogging. I need to go to bed earlier. I can't even blame my kids, they have been sleeping pretty good since before Christmas. Except for the occational bad dream.

I am told that blogging will all even out and I won't be on the computer all the time. I guess that means I will find my pace and not always check other blogs. But to me, that is part of the fun. I like to see what other people are blogging about and see how they design their blogs.

Besides, I met some bloggy friends who encourage me and inspire me.

Okay, I just got off the phone with my husband. We had a couple of car problems and we had to shell out a lot of money. So, my part of the conversation was to tell him we will be okay and we will make do like we had to this past fall. So, no more shopping at the Etsy Shop or going to Scrap Nights for a while. No more buying little things for fun because they do add up. Also, no more fast food for a while. Actually, that could work out to my benefit...I am trying to eat better.

2008 Review In Pictures

Liz of Loving Mom 2 Boys had did a post of monthly pictures of 2008. Check hers out here . I thought that was cool, so I did it. This one is January. A day after the first snow storm of 2008. Adela's first time in the snow. She was 1 year 1/2.
February - Michaela warming up by the fire after her bath.

March - Daddy and Lindsey cuddling in the morning. It was a Saturday, why is she so crabby? Apparently, I did not take any pictures in April or May. How can that be possible?

June - Adela's second birthday party. She is chillin'.

July - Up at Jason's parent's cottage. Adela enjoying a toasted marshmellow.

August - Adela, Michaela and Lindsey camping in the backyard with Daddy. Well, just Lindsey would actually do it.

September - Lindsey's first day of second grade.

October - Michaela at Miller's Big Red Apple Orchard.

November - First snow fall.

December - Adela finally agreeing to take a bath without Daddy holding her while she is standing. She hated baths for 14 months. She would stand in the tub and Daddy would hold her and I would wash her up. CRAZY!

This was fun and a little late. If you do this, let me know so I can look at your photos.

Jeannie Does It Again!!

Jeannie over at Jeannie's Happy World is having a jewerly giveaway. Check it out here. All the jewerly was handcrafted. This is a picture of the earrings and the watch band. The watch face that it will come with is on the other picture.

When I went to visit the Etsy Shop, I fell in love with a pair of earrings . They were called Crystal Chocolate Dangle Earrings. I loved them so much, I bought them. They were really cheap!! My Husband probably will not be happy, but I thought it was a deal.

I Am Resolving To...

I have been reading many blogs today. They are all posting about New Years resolutions. So, I am too!

I always do the same one every year: Lose weight and eat better. This year, I am hoping it will be different. I am joining a few weight lose blogs. I started a blog about my weight loss in November. Though, I stopped posting. I was just disappointed in myself and the holidays were approaching. So, I decided to start again in January. I am hoping January will be a clean slate for me. If you want to see my weight loss blog and see how I am doing, click here.

My other resolutions are:

  • Scrapbook a page once a week.
  • Keep the house pick up.
  • Maybe, not blog as much. Yikes!!
  • Be happier, if anything for my kids.

I wish you all luck with your resolutions!
