Friday Book Projects-Names for Snow

It is Friday Book Projects with Sandy over at Just For Fun.

I know that a lot of people are wishing for spring to start. I am as well. But I am hoping for one more snow day. The kind that gives us at least 6 inches. So that school is canceled.

So in the spirit of my wish, we read Names for Snow by Judi K. Beach. I thought we could make snow on paper. I put white paint in a paper dish and we used the easer end of a pencil to make dots.

Friday Book Projects: If You Give A Mouse A Cookie

It is time for Friday Book Projects over at Just For Fun!

We read If You Give A Mouse A Cookie by Laura Numeroff. I love all her books. When I find out there is a new one, I run to the library and grab it!

This week we made cookies. I just cut a circle out of brown paper and let them decorate the cookie.

Friday Book Projects: Miss Fannie's Hat

It is time for Friday Book Projects with Sandy at Just For Fun. This week, we read Miss Fannie's Hat by Jan Karon. It has a nice message at the end about sharing and giving.

So we decided to make hats. We did the classic pirate hat and decorated it.

Just in case you forgot how to make one I will give the instructions. Hey, I forgot and had to find the instructions. Take a whole sheet of newspaper and cut off 4 inches off the side of the paper. Fold the two ends til they met. Take the bottom part and fold up on both sides. Then tape the folds secure.

I let the kids decorate their hats on their own. So, of course I got a lot of drops of glitter glue on the hat. I was able to convince them to put buttons and pieces of paper.

Friday Book Projects - On The Day You Were Born

It is that time for Friday Book Projects with Sandy over at Just For Fun.

Lindsey, my first born, received this book 6 days after she was born. It also happened to be Christmas. The kids and I did this last week. So the Valentine theme is a little late.

My kids love using the sharpener so this was great for all of us.

We used the cheaper crayons. We would never use Crayola brand. We pick red and pink crayons and the kids sharpened them to nubs. I put the shavings on wax paper. Then I put some glitter on it. Then I put wax paper on top of the shavings. I put dish rags on both the bottom and top of the wax paper. I then ran an iron over the dish rag for several minutes. The crayon mixture melted and I waited for it to cool. Then I cut a big heart out of it.

The picture doesn't show the glitter. I have it on my window now. When the sun hits it, it looks nice.

Friday Book Projects: Dora's Rainbow Egg Hunt

It is Friday Book Projects with Sandy over at Just For Fun. Today we are reading "Dora's Rainbow Egg Hunt" The project is stamping eggs with a potato. Kind of a Sandy idea, check here for the penguin stamp project.

You cut the potato length wise.

Then you put glitter glue on a plate and ink up the potato. Then stamp on paper.

Voila! A silver egg! We made a few of these. I plan on stringing them together and hanging them on the wall for Easter

Friday Book Projects: The Snow Speaks

It is Friday Book Projects with Sandy. My kids love this because they know that at least once a week, we are going to be doing crafts.

We did this project two weeks ago. The book was "The Snow Speaks" by Nancy Carlstrom.

We ripped pieces of white paper and then glued them on another sheet of paper. Like layers of snow. Then we put glitter glue and more glitter on the top. We used cotton balls for snowmen. As you will see when you scroll down, the kids love the glitter glue.

Here is Lindsey's, the eight year old. She came after we had finished. Lindsey's is different. She used cottonballs for everything.

Friday Book Projects - Zug the Bug

Sandy over at Just for Fun has started Friday Book Project. Click here to see the other participants.

I decided to read "Zug the Bug" and make fingerprint bugs with watercolors. I am not really creative, so it is extremely easy.

First you just put all over the paper whatever color you want with the paint. Then you let it dry.

With markers, you put the finishing touches on the bugs.
